Congratulations to our Young Environmentalist Award Winners Ethel and Éadaoin. Their project Our Environment – Your Litter won overall Junior and first prize in their category.

Éadaoin and Ethel have been working so hard picking litter and raising awareness with industries in Ringnaskiddy to make our local area greener. Their semi-final presentation impressed the judges and was compared to that of college standard.

Ethel and Éadaoin have been in contact with local industries to raise awareness and were invited by Novartas last Saturday on a tour of the Novartus Campus.

Guests of honour at the Virtual Awards Showcase were President Michael D. Higgins and former President Mary Robinson.

President Higgins praised students involved in the YEA and said that they inspire, educate and empower young people so they may play their part in our “greatest societal challenge. That of Climate Change”.

Mary Robinson quoted Kofi Annan in her speech saying.

“You are never too young to lead and never too old to learn”.

Which certainly rings true with our wonderful students!
