Well done to our First Year Maths students, who have recently been working on the data handling cycle in statistics! 🧮 Maths Teachers Ms. Lehane and Ms. Fitzpatrick brought in tubes of Smarties, which students grouped by colour, and then were able to create bar charts to show the quantities of each colour in the tube! A fun and memorable learning activity that allowed students to show their knowledge and skills- Well done everyone! 👏🧮 #juniorcyclemaths #maths #activelearning

Hard luck to our Junior Girls Soccer team who lost

Hard luck to our Junior Girls Soccer team who lost out to Colaiste Choilm in the League Final on penalties ⚽️ The game ended 0-0 after extra time, after a very strong performance from every player on the pitch 💪 A close penalty shootout meant it went to sudden death after our super keeper Sarah O’Keeffe made a fantastic save. 9 of our girls stepped up to take a penalty: Siobhán Deasy, Roisin Killen, Meabh Deasy, Brooke Manley, Sarah O Keeffe, Lynne Chadwick Manning, Sarah O’Mahony and Lucy Finlay. Colaiste Choilm won the penalty shootout 8-7 in the end. On Friday May 5th, our First Years went on
their school tour to @ballyhass_adventures! Students had a fantastic time taking part in activities including Kayaking, Archery and a Water Obstacle Course! 🏹 Students had a great day out in the May sunshine- making memories with the new friends and classmates that they have gotten to know this year! 💪 Many thanks to all of the Ballyhass team for a great day and to Year Head Ms. Heffernan for organising the trip! 🛶 #schooltour #activeschool

Yesterday was a very special day here is St. Peter’s as students, teachers, parents and families gathered to celebrate the Graduation of our Leaving Certificate Class of 2023! 🎓 We are so incredibly proud of this group of students, their work ethic, their kindness, their achievements and their friendships 👏 The theme of yesterday’s ceremony was “Met as strangers, parted as friends”, with artwork by talented Leaving Cert student Alex Linehan 🎨 And we are so delighted that the day, which included a beautiful ceremony led by Fr. Chris, allowed everyone to reflect on the journey that those fresh-faced First Years from 2017 have had to become the fantastic young adults that are leaving us in 2023. As always, we want to say a huge Thank You to Ms. McGovern for organising yesterday’s ceremony, and to all of our Student Volunteers who helped to prepare the refreshments for afterwards 👏 We want to send everyone our best wishes over the weeks ahead, it will most definitely all be worth it! 📚 Very bright futures ahead for all of you ✨ #stpetersabú #graduation #classof2023

Well done to the Junior Girls’ Soccer Team who beat a very strong Christ King side in the Cork Schoolgirls Junior League Semi- Final on Thursday 💪 It was a close game with both teams putting up a good fight and keeping the score at 0-0 at half time. St Peter’s had to work really hard in the second half to secure the win in the end, with the final score of 2-0 as a result of two goals from Siobhán Deasy (4th Year) 👏 We want to wish the team the Best of Luck in the Junior League Final next week 💪🔴⚫️ #stpetersabú #schoolsoccer

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment (and @finegael Deputy Leader) @simoncoveney to St. Peter’s to attend and present our Barr Bua Awards! 👏🏅 A highlight of our school calendar, the Barr Bua Awards give us an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the talents, achievements, leadership and progression of our students 💪 We are always very proud of our students, and the awards are a welcome reminder of all that our students have achieved throughout the year 👏 As the year draws to a close, we want to congratulate all of our award recipients on their hard work and dedication throughout the year 💪🏅 Minister Coveney spoke about trying your best, following your own interests and doing what makes you unique and different from others- a very strong and important message for everyone! The final score was 4-2, bringing defeat for St. Peter’s after an exciting game up in Mayfield United. Goal scorers were Liam Quinn and Eoghan McInerney. Recently a group of eight of our Fifth Year studen

Recently a group of eight of our Fifth Year students; Lauren Murphy, Simone Jennings, Shania O’Donovan, Lauren Ryan, Chloe Hickey, Jasmin Spriggs, Olivia O’Connor and Lucy Coughlan applied for places on a week-long trip to the Monastic Pilgrimage site of @taize in France next Autumn. The students attended interviews with Anne Kelly, Co-Ordinator of the Tomar Trust who will fund the trip, along with our Religion Department teachers Ms. McGovern and Ms. O’Brien, and luckily all students were offered places on the trip! The group will form part of the 40-strong cohort of students from Cork attending the week-long trip in September, where students will have the opportunity to examine Faith Development and meet students from other countries and cultures! Last Thursday, we were delighted to celebrate our School Culture Day 🌍🗺 Here in St. Peter’s, over 160 of our students are connected to over 40 different countries, which means we are lucky enough to have a fantastic, dynamic school culture. The combination of languages, traditions and identities help our students to see themselves as unique, and we are delighted to celebrate all of our students, their backgrounds and identities 👏 Students who visited the stands had an opportunity to taste different foods, hear different styles of music and learn about the countries that were prepared over the past few weeks! Last Wednesday, five of our students (Chloe Hickey

Last Wednesday, five of our students (Chloe Hickey, Jasmin Spriggs, Shania O'Donovan, Kate Collins and Olivia O'Connor) attended the P.A.C.E Centre to help out with a coffee morning to fundraise money for the upkeep of the Old Passage West Graveyard. The graveyard holds the remains of people who died during The Great Famine, and is very important to the local community. Well done to everyone who attended as over €1,300 was raised. Thank you to Jim Murphy and his daughter Angela for organising the event- we look forward to seeing more of our students helping out with community initiatives and projects as part of our Community Links Initiative, where we hope to highlight the work of our students #inourcommunity Well done everyone! #studentleadership #ceist #passagewest

Well done to the Junior Girls’ Soccer Team who beat Coláiste Choilm 4-3 today in the Cork Schoolgirls League 👏 St Peter’s were down 2-0 at halftime but made a huge comeback in the second half with 4 goals from Siobhán Deasy (2), Sarah O’Mahony and Rita Helmbrecht 💪 The girls have now topped their group after winning every game and are moving onto the next round 🔴⚫️ #stpetersabú #schoolsoccer

We can’t believe it’s already been a week since the St. Peter’s Easter Camp was taking place in the school! Here’s a look at what our fantastic camp members got up to in the Woodwork Room with Mr. Fitzgerald! 🪚🪵 Students created money boxes and had the chance to apply skills including measuring, sanding and gluing! During our Easter Break, four members of our Student Council went up to Dublin's Liberty Hall for the @issu4u Annual Assembly. They heard many excellent speeches from the candidates running for a variety of important positions within ISSU. After consulting Ciara Dolan, Peace Makundika, Ozioma Mbakwe and Julia Kwiatkowska voted for the new Coiste Gnó Committee.  The Minister of Education- @normafoleytd made a guest appearance and give a special speech about the importance of education for young people, as well as her plans for the future of Irish schools.  Congratulations to all students who won the election. We're very excited to see what the future brings! #studentcouncil

Many thanks to all of our Transition Year volunteers who have been attending the Padre Pio Nursing Home over the past few weeks on Mondays! The students have been providing company for the residents, playing board games and connecting residents with local news and events!
