Last Friday, St. Peter’s was invited by FAI Schools and @uccsport to attend the inaugural launch of the Cork Schools Cup competition, where our Senior Girls’ Soccer Team will be competing for the ‘Denise O’Sullivan Senior Cork Cup’. The evening was attended by many schools in Cork, with FAI Development Officers Alan Bennett and Derek Coughlan also in attendance. St. Peter’s was proudly represented by players Muireann Deasy (C) and Simone Jennings, with the girls’ team being drawn to play Regina Mundi in our opening game of the campaign, with the eventual final due to be held in Turner’s Cross. This Cork Cup Soccer competition helps to further promote and develop female participation in second level sport, while UCC also spoke about new career opportunities and scholarships for women in sport. Today St. Peter’s was represented in rowing at the Munster Indoor Rowing Championships in the Sports Arena, University of Limerick! Building on the success that many of our students have had as members of @passagewestrowingclub, St. Peter’s got off to a cracking start with the Mixed Open A Team (Róisín Manning, Sophie Walsh, Eoin O’Connell, Sam O’Brien and Jay Murphy-Brooker) winning their race 👏🥇 Team B which included Ríonagh Altamirano, Ava Leahy, Molly O’Mahony, Louie O’Brien and Jack Sheehan also put in a strong performance 💪 The Open Girls Team were unlucky to finish 8th despite a good race, whilst the Open Boys Team put in an incredible effort to come 4th in a very competitive race. Well done to the Second Year Boy’s Basketball Team, who played their final match of the year versus Colaiste Mhuire Crosshaven yesterday 🏀 They represented the school really well, however the game finished in a convincing win for Crosshaven! Well done to the Second Year Girls’ Basketball Team who had another great win last Friday against Coláiste Muire, Crosshaven! 👏🏀 Fantastic performances included scores from Francesca Kyamagero, Amelia Szaganska (C), Lea Vucko, Rachele Olibanji and Tia Delea! 💪 Super defensive performances from Alba Lozano, Keira Price and Gabriela Neves helped to keep Coláiste Muire at bay, and secured another happy outcome for the St. Peter’s girls! Congratulations to the Second Year Girls’ Basket

Congratulations to the Second Year Girls’ Basketball Team, who had a fantastic victory against Coláiste an Chraoibhín (Fermoy) last Friday in Parochial Hall 👏 The girls were hungry for a win after a very narrow loss to Youghal the previous week, and the performance didn’t disappoint 💪 Organised in both attack and defense, the team pulled off a stunning 44-11 victory, helped hugely by the high-scoring combination of Francesca Kyamagero and Amelia Szaganska (C). Other brilliant performances from Keira Price, Tia Delea, Alba Lozano, Cara Duggan and Madison Spriggs helped to secure a convincing win for the St. Peter’s girls 👏🏀
Our First Year Girls’ Basketball Team also played against the Fermoy side on Friday 🏀 Despite it only being their second outing as a team, the group showed huge promise and improvement from their debut 💪 Fantastic performances from Rachele Olibanji, Chloe Walsh, Gabriela Neves, Lauren Waters, Wiktoria Watroba and Teresa Parisi helped to keep Fermoy within touching distance, with the game ending with a 26-12 scoreline 👏 A great day all round, and we wish the Second Year Girls the Best of Luck in their next match in Crosshaven this Friday! 💪🔴⚫️ #stpetersabú

Well done to our First and Second Year Girls’ Ba

Well done to our First and Second Year Girls’ Basketball Teams, who had their first matches of the year at a blitz in Pobalscoil na Tríonóide in Youghal last week! 🏀 Our Second Years began with a very strong performance- superstar contributions from Francesca Kyamagero and Amelia Szaganska (C) helped to lead the team to a 44-42 result in favour of Youghal, the narrowest of margins! 👏 Next up came our rookie First Year team, with many of the girls having never played before. Motivation was high, and the girls put in a fantastic defensive performance which led to a 18-6 win for the Youghal side, which is a huge success given the high-scoring potential of the Youghal players 💪Then it was time for our Second Years to play Carrigtwohill Community College, a team with an exceptional amount of talent. Key performances from Kiera Price, Tia Delea and Cara Duggan helped to keep Carrigtwohill to a 47-19 scoreline, which could have been much greater except for a good defensive performance 👏 The First Years then played Carrigtwohill, and another fantastic performance including great play from Chloe Walsh, Gabriela Neves, Ida Bandos, Muirinn Ahern, Lauren Waters and Rachele Olinabanji led to a 18-6 win for Carrigtwohill, a fantastic scoreline against a very capable team! 👏 The teams will next be playing this Friday and we wish them the Best of Luck! 💪🔴⚫️ #stpetersabú

Well done to Mr. Sheehan’s 6th Year Biology class, who recently completed an experiment involving heart dissections following their recent studies 🧑‍🔬 Using sheep’s hearts, students were able to examine the heart’s chambers, valves and how blood flows through the heart! 🫀Well done everyone 👏 #lcbiology

Last Friday, we were delighted to have grandparents of our current students visit our school as part of Grandparents Day. Grandparents, along with older relatives and friends, play an important role in the lives of young people, influencing their behaviours and their life paths. It was great to meet so many grandparents who are so proud of their grandchildren and all of their accomplishments in St. Peter’s! Hopefully we will have another chance to welcome more grandparents to the school before the end of the year! #grandparentsday

Hard luck to our Junior Girls Soccer team who narr

Hard luck to our Junior Girls Soccer team who narrowly lost out to a strong, but well matched, Coláiste Iosaef Kilmallock in the Munster Cup Semi Final today! Kilmallock started strong with two goals in the first half of the game but we were soon to react with a stunning goal from Siobhán Deasy 💪⚽️ Going into the second half, we were 2-1 down but that did not faze St Peter’s 🔴⚫️ Meabh Deasy, set up by Lucy Finlay added another goal to make it 2-2! Another goal from Kilmallock and one from Sarah O’Mahony saw the game go to 3-3 with only a few minutes to go. Our girls were extremely unlucky in the final seconds of the match with Kilmallock scoring two more goals to bring the final score to 5-3. A massive well done to the girls on a fantastic Munster Cup campaign and a very hard fought match today- We’ll be back! 💪 Thank you to Coach Ms. Lucey for her time spent training and guiding the team this year 👏🔴⚫️ #stpetersabú

Our Foróige Programme is back for January 2023, with our First Years being paired up with a Transition Year “Buddy” for the next few weeks! Many thanks to our TYs for facilitating the programme, which aims to help students to settle back into school life following the Christmas Break, along with helping all students to make greater connections with their fellow students! Many thanks to Ms McGovern, along with TY Co-Ordinators Peace, Ellen and Abbie, who will be organising the events and activities over the next few weeks! 👏 #firstyear

After a very successful Munster Campaign, our U19

After a very successful Munster Campaign, our U19 Boys’ Soccer Team reached their second consecutive Munster Final, this year playing against Coláiste Mhuire, Askeaton. As defending title holders, feelings and confidence were strong heading into the game. Fantastic performances by our players were a close second on the day, with Coláiste Mhuire winning the John Murphy Cup on a 1-0 scoreline. We are all extremely proud of this team and how they have conducted themselves throughout this campaign, and we thank them for their efforts and for representing the school so well over the past few months! 👏 🔴⚫️ To our Leaving Certificate students, yesterday’s match may have been the last time that they played for St. Peter’s, and although not the scoreline you were hoping for, we know that St. Peter’s has provided you all with a rich history of fantastic memories of playing soccer in the St. Peter’s jersey! ⚽️ Thank you to Coach Mr. O’Keeffe for his leadership in guiding and supporting this team throughout the year! 👏 Congratulations to Coláiste Mhuire 🏆 We’ll be back, no doubt about that! 💪🔴⚫️ #stpetersabú
