On the 8th of March, St Peter’s Senior Boys Basketball made the trip to Colaiste Muire Crosshaven for their first match together.
The match started well for St Peter’s despite some early nerves with scores coming from Jeremy Healy and Alvaro De Los Angeles. Crosshaven grew into the game and started to dominate the score sheet. Mid way through the 3rd quarter Crosshaven were leading 31-20.
A second half comeback saw St Peter’s end the fourth quarter 35-35. The tie at the end of the game saw a five minute final period introduced to decide the winner. St Peter’s fell three points behind with three minutes left but with scores from Jeremy Healy and Mark Canty, St Peter’s hung on to win 44-43.
The Boys Senior team will be proud of their performance with the knowledge that they will improve as they get more practice and game time. The scorers for St Peter’s were Jeremy Healy with 10 points, Yuudai Yusaf with 9 points, Mark Canty with 6points, Barend Vosloo, Alvaro De Los Angeles and Tomas Harrington each got 4 points, Fionn Hanley with 3 points and Tom Dent and David McMahon with 2 points each.
